Brook on a phone, first a traveler’s library, then a foodie’s. A saved Instagram post opens: Olhos de Água cove, and Brook prints what it read from it: Albufeira, Portugal; the Olhos de Água neighborhood; the tip, hidden gem, low tide; and that the post does not say when to go. Then a search for “that cove in portugal” finds it. Then, in the foodie’s Brook: three saved posts arrive in Brook’s Saved list, and Brook reads each one and files it with what it found: Hako sushi counter, Wicker Park, order the omakase, in Places to eat; Chill onions first, chill 15 min then dice, in Ideas; a $65 chef’s knife in Things to buy. Then a search for “the birria place” finds Lumbre Chica tacos: Chicago, Pilsen, order the birria, till 2 am on weekends.

How your saves get in

  1. Share a post to Brook.

When Brook launches, you tap Share on a TikTok or Instagram post, then Brook. Nothing to copy. Other apps' share buttons are planned too.

  2. Brook reads it.

It will read the caption and the picture, and fill in what you saved it for: the place and the city, the tip, what to order, when to go.

  3. It files it, ready to find.

Each kind of post will get its own board, so your saves stop being one long pile. Later, you search for it the way you remember it.

We tested the reading before building the rest.

We scored the AI model Brook plans to use on 97 real saved posts from TikTok and Instagram (two more could not be opened), giving it only the caption and one picture from each post's public preview: what Brook is planned to read when you share a post to it.

  • It got the kind of post right on 96 of 97: recipe, place, product, workout, idea, or none of those.
  • It got the name right on 82 of the 90 that were one of those five, and the city too, for places.

That test covered the type, the name and the city. The other details Brook is planned to fill in, like the tip or when to go, have not been measured yet. How we ran the test

Questions

When does Brook launch?
